Scientific Research

Objective:

To promote scientific research and professional development, and to disseminate evidence-based scientific knowledge, supporting the association's mission and contributing to the advancement of the nutrition profession.

Tasks:

1. Preparing and implementing the association's annual scientific plan.
2. Encouraging and supporting scientific research in the field of nutrition and nutritional therapy.
3. Organizing conferences, seminars, and scientific symposia.
4. Reviewing and approving the scientific content of activities and programs.
5. Building partnerships with universities and research centers.
6. Encouraging the publication of research and scientific papers in journals and conference proceedings.
7. Establishing a database of research and studies related to nutrition.
8. Monitoring scientific developments and disseminating them to association members.
9. Supporting continuing education and professional development programs for members.

World Food Day

The association participated in a seminar held on October 16, 2026, to mark World Food Day. The event took place online and featured the participation of various government entities and specialized organizations, under the theme "Innovation Today, Food for Tomorrow." The Sudanese Society of Nutritionists and Therapeutic Dietitians participated in the celebration of World Food Day under the slogan "Hand in hand for better food and a better future" on October 16, 2025. Providing outstanding nutrition and educational services and promoting research and professional training to support community health and improve nutritional practices.

• The event included a nutritional awareness and consultation day, clinics (Allergy and Immunology Clinic, Digestive System and Celiac Diseases Clinic, Pregnancy and Lactation Clinic, Pediatrics and Infant Nutrition Clinic, and Chronic Diseases Clinic (Diabetes and Hypertension)), and an accompanying exhibition (Samples of diverse healthy meals/Meal options for people with food allergies/Informative brochures and posters).

Medical Nutrition Therapy for Diabetic Patients

• The latest recommendations in nutritional therapy for diabetic patients, in accordance with international guidelines, were discussed.
• Participants gained skills in designing individualized dietary plans for diabetic patients based on each patient's health condition.
• Case studies were presented, and practical exercises were conducted on assessing patients' nutritional status and developing appropriate recommendations.

• Outcomes:
• The latest recommendations in nutritional therapy for diabetic patients, in accordance with international guidelines, were discussed.

The association organized an event to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons. The event included therapeutic nutrition clinics and a diabetes clinic, in addition to psychological support and guidance, and pharmaceutical awareness by pharmacy specialists.

The Sudanese Society of Nutritionists and Therapeutic Dietitians participated in the celebration of World Diabetes Day in different locations.
